Matt Paxton & The Pintos (Oct 17, 2024)

Over the past several years, Matt Paxton has performed his sizable folk-rock and alt-country repertoire across Canada, in the process gaining a reputation as one of the country's most promising up-and-coming singer-songwriters. Paxton's solo body of work now includes five albums, a handful of singles and EPs, and notable live appearances with the likes of Daniel Lanois, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Astrid Young, Evan Dando, and many more.
His new band, The Pintos, consisting of bassist Carrie Clark, drummer Robin Pirson and pedal steel maestro Chris Altmann, join StereoRuss on Inside the Music to share some stories and talk about their latest release "Tornado", as well as their upcoming tours.

Izzi Ahmed is a multi instrumentalist from Hamilton, Ontario, playing in Soulquarium and The Checkerboards. Izzi also hosts a variety of events in the city. He comes into the studio today to share some of his new projects, his experience playing in various bands, and shares some deep cuts from his favourite musicians.

Golden Feather (Sept 19, 2024)

Golden Feather is comprised of members Bradley Germain, Steven Kiely, Ronson, Gareth Inkster, Murray Heaton and Daniel Walton, a group that shares a love of music that takes its listeners on a journey. They have released three EPs, “Light On Water” in 2020, “In Air” and “Now & Then” in 2022, a live album, “Welcome\\Release” in June of 2023, and a full length self titled album which is set for release on September 20th, 2024.
Seeing the band live is where you get to really see what they’re all about. It’s very much a two way transfer of energy between the crowd and the band. They’re not afraid to explore their music and try new things out, especially in front of a live audience. Golden Feather shows are full of dancing, sing alongs, and good vibes, something that has to be experienced for yourself to believe. Come watch the Feather Fly!

Small Town Strip Club (August 17, 2024)

Hailing from Stratford, Ontario, Small-Town Strip Club (STSC) is making big waves in the world of independent rock. With a vibe that’s a fusion of blues, rock, country and alternative influences, STSC brings a fresh sound and energetic performances on their recordings and on stage.
You might recognize STSC from their hit track “CHEAP SHOT,” which serves as the intro music for the world’s number one hockey podcast, Spittin’ Chiclets. They even took the stage and performed a set at the Spittin’ Chiclets live show during All-Star Weekend in Toronto.
STSC has also shared the stage with JUNO Award-winning country band, the James Barker Band, performing in front of a sold-out crowd of over 1500 fans.
As STSC gears up for the release of their debut full-length LP album, be sure to keep tabs on their social media for upcoming gigs and announcements.

Darcy Mitchison - Live Performance (August 8, 2024)

Darcy Mitchison is a singer songwriter born and based in Hamilton Ontario. He grew up learning piano but it wasn’t until he hit the streets of Dublin, Ireland at the age of 18 that he began singing, quite literally for his supper which sometimes consisted of a few pints of Guinness. He graduated from Centennial College with an advanced diploma in music industry arts and performance dabbling in Funk, American Gospel and R&B. Darcy has a deep appreciation for soulful singer songwriters like Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye and Michael McDonald.
 
Darcy joins Inside the Music today for a live in studio performance.

Robb Cappalletto of Double Red (August 1, 2024)

Robb Cappelletto started Double Red as 'The Robb Cappelletto Group' in 2011 with their first release in 2012. Playing instrumental r&b/jazz, the group in its current lineup started to take shape in 2015, and put out two releases - Ostriches (2017) and Double Red (2019).
After a pandemic fuelled hiatus, Robb took two years off focused exclusively on working with his other band, re.verse (we released the album Meridian in 2022, and played a main stage headline slot for TD Toronto Jazz Fest in 2023).
Fast forward to 2024, Robb put the band back together and rebranded as Double Red.
